Dr. Hansen is a registered pharmacist, having received his bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from University of Wisconsin, and a PhD in Social, Administrative, and Clinical Pharmacy from the University of Minnesota. Throughout his career, Richard Hansen has worked in several capacities within the educational field. Notably he worked as Associate Professor of Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy at the Eshelman School of Pharmacy at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. From 2010-2017, Dr. Hansen served as the Department Head of Health Outcomes, Research, and Policy at the Harrison School of Pharmacy at Auburn University. He would later become the Dean of Harrison School of Pharmacy at Auburn University, a position he held for 5 years.

Dr. Hansen’s research, which has been funded by numerous organizations over the years such as the Food and Drug Administration, the National Pharmaceutical Council, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health, and typically focuses on population-level assessments of the risk and benefits of drug treatments.
